Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020140045

Mr. Speaker. with the 1948 Arab attack on Israel. there was a great exchange of populations. Eight hundred and fifty thousand Jews fled Arab lands with no possessions and no money and settled in the Jewish State of Israel as penniless refugees. They were immediately absorbed into Israel. they were granted citizenship and were. in every essence. integrated into the state. On the other hand. 500.000 Palestinians fled Israel to Arab and Moslem States. Israel permitted them to take their possessions and their money. Yet the fleeing Palestinians were put into camps by their own brethren and were not granted citizenship.
