Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020136068

We have 50 Americans that live in Haiti. but they have not reported any atrocities to our Embassy." How shocking that he should wait for a poor Haitian to look for some white American somewhere in Haiti. assuming that they would be couriers and report it to the Embassy. No. I think it is sad that that is happening in this great Republic. All we are saying and asking of the Members is this: "Dont send these people back to the fate which they have left." We are not asking that we take them to Miami or New York. We are not asking that we treat them the same way we would treat any other European refugee. We are not asking you to show a lot of compassion and open up your arms and your hearts as Americans are used to doing. We are not asking that.
