Mr. Ivanov. a 28yearold electrical engineer cited in the article. decided to leave the Soviet Union during the August coup attempt. It took him more than 2 months to get a visa to the United States and now he is begun the difficult task of finding a job. Many of his scientific friends have left Moscow. he reports. None have gone to Iraq.
