In addition to his philanthropic work. he is one of the most respected leaders in the GreekAmerican community and he has promoted Greek cause in Cyprus. the Aegean. and at the patriarchate. He has been Instrumental in the establishment of the S.B. Vryonls Center for the Study of Hellenism. Mr. Tsakopoulos was the honorary chairman of AHEPAs celebration on Ellis Island to honor the Greek immigrant in April 1991. He has inspired the establishment of the Kazantzakis chair for modern Greek studies at San Francisco State University. Furthermore. he has funded chairs at the University of California.
