From some other point of view one could possibly argue that the horse helped speed up the destruction of the environment and contribute to the problem of endangered species. To accuse Columbus of having destroyed the environment is a desperate effort to undermine his great accomplishments. Even the native populations must eventually see themselves as part of this great multiethnic society which Columbus made possible as the first immigrant to the New World. Surely no one Native tribe can assert with certainty that it was here first. There is much speculation about Asian invasions of the continent many centuries ago and conquests of that kind long before Columbus.
