Roy Whitmire came down over $5 million. Mr. Whitmire agreed that given his lower price. and more importantly. given that the land has been in his wife Myrtles family for so long. that the addition to the refugee could be named after Myrtle Foester Whitmire. The reason I introduced this bill is because it is against Fish and Wildlife Service policy to name any refuge or section of a refuge after a living person unless it meets one of several criteria. One of these is that the property is named for a historic occurrence or site and that this occurrence or site is one which "elicits a positive and favorable response among the general public." Myrtle Foester Whitmires family has kept and preserved this valuable land for over 100 years.
