The Croatian Government now controls the Republics largest newspaper publishing house and has sought to ban independent television programs viewed as antiCroatian. And. Mr. Speaker. special Croatian military forces have adopted black uniforms reminiscent of Croatias World War II fascist forces. The Ustashe "U" is frequently found where an Orthodox church has been destroyed. I know. Mr. Speaker. some Serbian refugees in the United States today who fled Croatia out of fear for their lives. They tell tales of Serbian homes. businesses. and churches being destroyed and defaced. All of which reminds me of what happened to Serbs in Croatia between 1941 and 1945.
