Mr. President. Plato once said that "what is honored in a country will be cultivated there." Today I honor a distinguished Minnesotan and World War I veteran. Henry Boeck. who died on September 5. 1991. at the age of 96. The son of German immigrant homesteaders. Boeck volunteered at age 17 for service in World War I. After being seriously wounded in Verdun. France. he married and settled in Westbrook. MN. His four children and their spouses went on to serve with distinction in World War II. Korea. and Vietnam. In life. Henry Boeck brought honor to himself. his family. the State of Minnesota. and the country he loved and served.
