I also would like to offer greetings to all GermanAmericans from the 11th Congressional District. which I am honored to represent. and to GermanAmericans across the United States. Because German immigrants have contributed so much to America. I have cosponsored a bill designating October 6 as GermanAmerican heritage Day. That date marks the anniversary of the arrival of the first GermanAmerican immigrants. who settled near Germantown. PA in 1683. The resolution reads as follows: H.J. REs. 180 Whereas since the arrival of the first German immigrants to America on October 6th. 1683. in the area of Germantown. Pennsylvania. GermanAmerlcans have made significant contributions to the quality of life in the United States.
