Mr. Speaker. it is with great respect and admiration that I address my colleagues in the House today. for I rise to extend my heartiest congratulations and warmest best wishes to Mayor Paul Amico on the occasion of his retirement. The son of Italian immigrants. Mayor Amico was born in New Yorks Lower East Side where he spent the first 6 years of his life. In 1919 his parents. Salvatore and Grace Amico. seeking a better life for their growing family. settled in Secaucus. Young Paul was enrolled in the local school system and it was not too long before he became a fixture on the baseball diamonds where he displayed the drive and determination which were to mark his many achievements in adulthood.
