Collier County is the State of Floridas largest county in geographical size and is located in the southwest portion of the State. Ninety percent of the countys population resides within the Naples area. The remaining 10 percent of the countys population resides in the town of Immokolee. an inland. rural. migrant worker community situated roughly 40 miles northeast of Naples. Nearly 30 percent of the Immokolee population is comprised of migrant and seasonal laborers with special health care needs. About 85 percent of the Immokolee households have incomes below 200 percent of the Federal poverty level. At least 80 percent of these individuals are uninsured and many suffer agricultural injuries which are work related.
