In addition to these funds it is important to expand educational opportunity for all of our qualified students. The amendment adds another $400 million for the State Legalization Impact Assistance Grant Program. SLIAG. as it is called. This is the approximate level of additional funding reported by the GAO and the IG of the Department of Health and Human Services that is required for fiscal year 1992. SLIAG reimburses the States for the health. education. and social service costs of the immigrants legalized by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. So this amendment adds $400 million to that domestic program. The amendment also adds $100 million for the Ryan White AIDS care programs.
