We must put a bill on the Presidents desk that makes no concessions. and gives the unemployed men and women of America what they needa new lease to hold together their lives and their families. and the opportunity to continue their search for work. If the President does not accept our demands. then he must answer to all those who now find themselves unemployed and without any source of Income. He must explain to the 8.7 million unemployed people in America. and the over 40.000 in western Massachusetts. how he comes to the conclusion that the recession is over. If President Bush can declare an emergency to provide aid to Kurdish refugees. why cant we declare an emergency to help the unemployed men and women In my district and in our country? The President says the recession is over. Well.
