These older volunteers form a tremendous community of talents serving individuals and organizations across the United States. Today more than 418.000 senior volunteers work in one of nearly 750 projects around the country. The types of service that RSVP volunteers provide are almost as varied as the volunteers themselves: adult based education. tax aid and consultation services. hospice care. home repair. utilities relief. substance abuse counseling. home visitation and longterm care. teaching first aid. conducting employment workshops. telephone reassurance. refugee assistance. neighborhood watch. service to veterans through the Veterans Administration and youth through literacy and substance abuse education projects. This is by no means an exhaustive list of activities that RSVP volunteers are engaged in. The benefits of RSVP are abundant and mutual.
