I stand today in solidarity with the brave people of the Baltic States in their quest for freedom. on this. the 50th anniversary of the Soviet Unions unprovoked deportation of thousands of Baltic citizens. We must never forget the suffering of those Baltic citizens in 1941. and we. as American citizens. must continue to do all we can to ensure that the door never closes on the Baltic States dream of freedom and independence from the Soviet Union.*
