Mr. President. this amendment directs the Secretary of Transportation to review current Federal highways and access border crossings between the United States and Canada. Being a border State. we get a lot of these kind of complaints. We have a problem with our Sweetgrass border crossing in northern Montana. The reviews purpose is to determine whether or not they are in compliance with current Federal highway regulations and adequately designed for future growth and expansion particularly in relation to the United StatesCanada FreeTrade Agreement and increasing tourismrelated traffic between the United States and Canada. The review must look at issues relating to the alignment of United States and Canadian highways. the development of bicycle paths and pedestrian walkways. potential energy savings to be realized by decreasing truck delays and related parking improvements.
