Yakov Aronovich Bekker is a geologist from Tadzhikistan. After he. his wife. and daughter applied for permission to emigrate. they were told in August 1990 that. since Mr. Bekker held a secondclass clearance. his application would be postponed for 5 years. Subsequently. Mr. Bekker was denounced to the KGB by coworkers and was expelled from the Tadzhik Geological Society.
