He pursued his academic endeavors in the United States achieving a double degree in economics and Spanish literature as well as a law degree from Georgetown University. This young lawyer rapidly stood out. not only because of his professionalism and aptitude as a leader. but also for his dedication in helping the needy. Mr. Castillo was the driving force behind the scholarship program of the Nicaraguan American Bankers and Businessmen Association which helps Nicaraguans with little economic resources. His efforts to get work permits for Nicaraguan refugees has been relentless. Mr. Castillo was the founding president of the LatinAmerican Lawyers College. as well as founder of the GuatemalanAmerican Chamber of Commerce.
