Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020041064

It has come to mean young men born in El Salvador or Mexico getting preferential treatment at the state college over Polish and Italian kids whose fathers fought in Vietnam. It has come to mean brazen boodling by politicians who suddenly turn up owning radio and TV stations worth millions--for an investment of a few thousand bucks. A quarter century ago. we were able to see the faces of the victims of discrimination. now we see the faces of the victims of reverse discrimination. In essence. the philosophical undergirding of this provision has been lost. I ask for a "no" on this quota bill.
