It is assumed that these 6.277 veterans and their families would be the beneficiaries of this legislation. I should add. that some of these 6.277 cases may already be U.S. citizens. so the actual number of beneficiaries would be less than this number. I believe that passage of my bill will help to add a sense of morality and decency to our immigration and naturalization policy as it applies to noncitizen veterans. America should reward the dedication and commitment of foreign veterans by offering them the opportunity for citizenship and entry into this country based on the quality of their service. not on the length. I urge my colleagues to support this legislation.
