Mr. Speaker. today I am introducing legislation that would help remedy an inequitable policy that our Government has been applying to nonU.S.-citizen veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States--also known as foreign veteranswho were injured or disabled while they were on active duty and subsequently seek naturalization or admission to the United States. Since the time of our Founding Fathers. our great Nation has been a city on a hill for freedom loving people around the world. And at time throughout the history. our dedication to the ideals of liberty have led us to assume the role of defenders of freedom and democracy.
