It is always an honor for me to march in Chicagos St. Patricks Day parade. which I have done on many occasions. IrishAmericans have had a diverse and deep impact on the history of the United States. Nine men of Irish origin signed the Declaration of Independence and thousands of Irish fought for the United States during the Revolutionary War. The Irish immigrants of the 19th century helped the expansion of our country by extending our railroads to the West.
