Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020017913

I rise for this special order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest Chief Justices to lead the Supreme Court of the United States. Chief Justice Earl Warren. With our eyes on the unbelievable police brutality recently recorded in the Los Angeles area. with the rollback of civil rights across the land. it is a fitting time to remind ourselves of the legacy of Chief Justice Earl Warren and the Warren Court. Earl Warren was part and parcel of the American Dream. He was born to immigrant parents on March 19. 1891. in Los Angeles. CA. After the family moved to Bakersfield. his dad worked as a railroad car repairman.
