Israel is simultaneously providing refuge from hundreds of thousands of Soviet Jews who are leaving the Soviet Union to live In Israel. In 1990. over 200.000 Soviet Jews immigrated to Israel. and In 1991 that figure may be 300.000. The financial burden is great. and I am pleased that the United States Is able to assist Israel at this time. In short.
