Mr. Speaker. I rise In support of this resolution recognizing the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Portugal. I have one quibble with the wording of the resolution where it states "Whereas the fishing industry has contributed to the immigration of many Portuguese to the United States. particulariy to New England." Mr. Speaker. the drafters of this resolution have obviously not been to San Leandro and San Lorenzo. CA. and the surrounding communities. There is a tremendously active PortugueseAmerican community in the bay areaand I will match our Portugueseinspired seafood dishes with anything from New England.
