Mr. Speaker. our identity as Americans is indeed difficult to define. We come in every size. shape. color. and culture. We have different interests. we eat different foods. But through it all. there is something that makes each of us American. As a nation of immigrants. we have assembled possibly the most diverse society in the world. still. we have managed to make it work. We learn to respect. not fear. that which makes us different. We share our cultures. our food. and our heritages. We do this largely because we share a common tongue. We can communicate with each other.
