Thanks to the efforts of the ranking Republican on the Subcommittee on LaborManagement Relations. the gentlewoman from New Jersey. Mrs. ROUKEMA. language was Included in the Housepassed version of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 to deny admission to alien crewmembers during a strike in the bargaining unit in which the alien intended to work. Regrettably. the conference committee altered the language so as to effectively gut its protections and included a 1year sunset on the provision which expired on November 5. 1987. In the 100th Congross. the gentlewoman from New Jersey introduced legislation to make permanent the ban on the use of alien strikebreakers.
