It was created to preserve the memory of the gallant defenders of the freedom of the Ukraine. from which they all came. In 1923. local Ukrainian women established the Zinocha Hromada to assist in the care for and perpetuation of the Sitch. Over the years the members of the Sitch have been very active in the community. for example aiding Red Cross efforts to assist Americans fighting in World War II and warmly welcoming Ukrainian immigrants who made their way here after the war.
