Because of camp conditions. the development and education of these children is severely impaired. Many are at the mercy of the various military factions and face forced conscription and physical and sexual abuse by the military. We are all hopeful that peace will return to Cambodia in the near future and that the Khmer can return home. Until this happens. however. it is essential that we do what we can to address the needs of the Khmer on the ThaiCambodia border and the needs of other refugee and displaced person populations around the world. Following our remarks will be a summary of the WHO report. We request that our colleagues review it carefully.
