Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010216740

I believe there was reference to this doing the same thing. but in point of fact. he would not be opposed if it did the same thing. The point of this amendment. even though as the gentleman from Connecticut said. the number of categories of individuals that would be affected is narrowed. That does not erase the fact that individuals are basically going to be able to. on one hand. say they are only coming to the United States temporarily. and on the other side. they are going to be able to apply for a permanent visa as well. Obviously. those intentions. the sworn testimony conflict. and it is an open invitation for voter fraud. If an Individual has applied for permanent status. and also applies for temporary status. we can guess his real motives.
Identified stereotypes
Individuals applying for both permanent and temporary status are assumed to have conflicting intentions and are engaging in voter fraud.
