Veterans health care would be slashed. wards would be closed. service denied. and Federal employees furloughed. The list is very long. Prison guards. border patrol. air traffic controllers. all furloughed. For those who think that government is bad. this will be their opportunity to find out what it is like when there is no government. because make no mistake about it. these cuts would be dramatic and draconian. and people would suffer as a result. I was just home this weekend. I had people come to me who said. "Senator. my family lives month to month. and. yes. we work for the Federal Government. and we are proud of it. We provide a service." Whether it is a U.S. marshal. a border patrol. an air traffic controller. they are providing essential and important services. They were saying to me. "Senator if you do not act. all of it comes to an end. What do I tell my family?
