Yes. the Republic of Serbia has Instituted a state of emergency in Kosovo and suspended the free press. And. yes. people have had their freedoms taken from them In part or In full. some have even died. But while this is not excusable. It must be viewed in the context of the ethnic conflict going on In Kosovo today. To understand this conflict. you must know something of the history of this region. Contrary to what some may be saying. Kosovo is the homeland of the Serbian people. It is their cradle and their birthplace. Serbians were living In Kosovo far before the Immigrant Albanians arrived. Indeed. Serbians have defended their homeland for centuries.
