And there are some statistics that show that based on the GAO survey of 891.000 employers. 19 percent of 4.6 million surveyed employers were practicing discrimination. 19 percent. That Is very. very high. Eight hundred ninetyone thousand employers were practicing discrimination on the basis of national origin or citizenship as a result of the immigration bill. Congress required this GAO study to proceed and see If these were the effects of sanctions. and basically said if the GAO found widespread discrimination Congress would be able to use expedited procedures to repeal sanctions. The expedited procedures. I believe. should be met by this Congress. and a vote on whether we repeal employer sanctions or not should take place.
