Mr. Speaker. the 1990 Congressional Call to Conscience Vigil for Soviet Jews. cochaired by Congressman JOHN MILLER and I and sponsored by the Union of Councils for Soviet Jews. is continuing its efforts to dramatize the plight of prisoners of conscience and other persons who are seeking freedom and emigration from the Soviet Union. The purpose of the vigil is to use weekly attention to problems of Jews and others who now face oppression in the Soviet Union. The vigil has been a particularly useful vehicle for voicing bipartisan congressional support for individuals and families wishing to emigrate to the free world. Hard work on this issue has paid off.
