Mr. President. I rise to honor the memory of tens of thousands of innocent Baltic men. women. and children who fell victim to a mass deportation at the hands of their Soviet occupiers on the night of June 14. 1941and to pledge ourselves never to rest until we put a stop to the continuation of the monstrous crime of Soviet occupation of the Baltic States. During the first half of 1990. the world has witnessed historic change in the Baltic Republics of Lithuania. Latvia. and Estonia. The Government of each Republic. democractically elected in free and fair elections. has issued declarations restoring their nations independence.
