You have reminded people in every land of the history of mans inhumanity to man. The historical evidence of the Armenian genocide is overwhelming. American Ambassador Henry Morgenthau wrote: "When the Turkish authorities gave the orders for these deportations. they were merely giving the death warrant to a whole race. they understood this well. and. in their conversations with me. they make no particular attempt to conceal the fact." British historian Arnold Toynbee adds: "The atrociousness of the two great twentieth century wars was aggravated by genocide. In the First World War. the Turks committed genocide against the Armenians. In the Second World War. the Germans committed genocide against the Jews." The individual accounts of suffering and agony are far too numerous to ever fully chronicle.
