House of Representatives. we always see the smiling face of our colleague known to everyone as SPARKY. He was a gentleman. but he was also a fighter for what he thought was best for his native State as well as the remainder of the Nation. The son of Immigrants. he graduated with honors from the University of Hawaii with a degree in education. SPARKY devoted over half of his 73 years to serving his State and the Nation. Climbing to majority leader while a member of the territorial House of Representatives. he was one of those who fought the difficult but successful struggle to bring statehood to the islands he loved.
