I take the floor today to mourn the loss of a statesman. a poet. and a friendour colleague. SPARK MATSUNAGA. I know you share my great sadness and sense of deep personal loss over his death. SPARK passed away on Easter Sunday after a long fight with cancer. It is an understatement to say that he will be missed. SPARKs life was a genuine American success story. Mahalo for enriching our lives and the lives of so many others. The son of immigrant parents. SPARK rose from poverty to earn a Harvard law degree and ultimately to become a threeterm U.S. Senator.
