Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010122599

But. today we are faced with an education system which threatens our economic stability. While some schools are achieving education excellence. many are struggling and turning out a generation of adults ill prepared for the challenges and complexities of the workforce of the 1990s and beyond. The majority of new workers are expected to be those in our society who are most educationally atrisk: the economically disadvantaged. minorities. and immigrants. For economic. social. and moral reasons. It is imperative that we as a Nation mobilize all of the many resources we have to make education the number one national priority.
