This is the 14th year in which college students from across the Nation come to Washington on behalf of human rights and freedom in the Soviet Union. I am proud to be an honorary cochairman of this years lobbying effort. along with Senator BOSCHWITZ. Mr. President. we have been startled by the past years events in the Soviet Union. Mr. Gorbachevs vision and persistence have brought about a new. unexpected level of human rights and personal freedom. Nearly 50.000 Jews were allowed to leave the U.S.S.R. in 1989 under greatly liberalized emigration laws. Mr. President. this Senator is grateful for Mr.
