Mr. Speaker. I rise today to pay tribute to the Asian Americans for Equality [AAFEJ upon the occasion of its annual Chinese New Year celebration. For over 15 years. AAFE has provided the Chinatown community with immigration assistance. English language classes. neighborhood crime prevention. food distribution. tenant assistance. and housing relocation. AAFE has successfully fought to maintain and create lowincome housing in the community while real estate prices in Chinatown rise due to its proximity to the financial district. This past October. AAFE became a notforprofit housing developer with the opening of Equality House and Unity House. apartment buildings erected to supply lowincome housing.
