But I heard stories of widespread antiSemitism so often and from so many sources that I left Moscow convinced of their veracity. In Pushkin Square in central Moscow in early June. a group of young thugs assaulted a man because he "looks Jewish." The police broke it up without arrests. Jewish families that had never considered emigrating. have now applied for exit visas fearful. they say. for their safety. A Jewish attorney predicts Jews will be blamed for causing the countrys economic mess. "The simple people will point to the Jews. It was the Jews. theyll say. who brought us the revolution.
