The cruel Turkish invasion of that island caused the death of thousands. Over 1.600 Greek Cypriots are still missing along with a number of American citizens. One of them is Andrew Kassapis. a young Michigan resident who was taken from his familys home on Cyprus and never seen again. That military action resulted in the displacement of 200.000 Greek Cypriots who became refugees in their own land. When they were forced out of the northern part of the island. they left behind land. homes. and personal property worth millions of dollars. Some of that property has been carted off to Turkey.
