Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010116794

It comes from longtime and tough opponents of the President of the United States who are looking for legal hooks too hang their battered hats on that does not smell of the high stench of the partisanship that motivates them. While reasonable people disagree on whether there Is authority for the grants of status. the administrative action may not be challenged in a court of law because there is no way a group could obtain standing to sue. I hope you hear that. The Immigration Service is faced with these things all the time. On the providing of benefits. to sue this Government one needs to prove that he or she is injured as a result of the Government action. This injury has to be clear and specific. not speculative or attenuated.
