Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010094091

Rather. it is a matter of morality and responsibility for the United States. Today we can help Chinese students In our own country. Tomorrow we may have to take steps to help the many Hong Kong citizens who fear the day that they will come under Chinese rule. I look forward to working with Chairman MORRISON in crafting additional U.S. Immigration policy that can respond to the terribly troubling state of Chinese oppression. Passage of H.R. 45. will hopefully send a message to Beijing that the United States can and will take steps to protect those threatened by the current regime. I urge members to strongly support this bill.
