Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010094024

I traveled in August to Hong Kong and to Taiwan. where I met with students and workers and people who were there at the massacre when the Chinese Army was ordered to murder. in cold blood. innocent people. It is just a terrible thing to see what has happened in so short a time. where so much hope has now been replaced by despair. I have mixed emotions about this bill. I voted against the Simpson.Mazzoli bill 3 years ago. which legalized illegal aliens in this country. because I did not think that was the proper way to go. I may vote against this bill today. although I have not made up my mind. I will say to the gentleman from Massachusetts and to the gentlewoman from California .
