Speech #1010093837

Archbishop lakovos is internationally recognized as an advocate for human and civil rights. He was particularly active in this Nations civil rights movement and marched in 1965 with Martin Luther King. Jr. in Selma. AL. He has also spoken out against the injustice of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 and initiated a campaign to assist Greek Cypriot refugees on that island. As a friend of Archbishop lakovos. I am honored to recognize his 30th year of dedicated service to Greek orthodoxy in this area of the world as well as his international contributions on behalf of human rights.
