Mr. Speaker. on Friday. September 27. 1989. the Home Chapter of the City of Hope will honor the memory of Mrs. Ruth Luevano Padilla at a special fundraising event for the research center. Mrs. Padilla was born on July 18. 1920. in Encamaclon Jalisco. Mexico. Her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cresenclo Luevano. immigrated with their young family to the United States and settled In the city of Azusa. CA when Ruth was 7 years old. In 1936. Ruth marded Mr. Ladis Padilla. who currently resides in Azusa. On June 3. 1985. she passed away after a long bout with cancer.
