Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000097301

He was a dear man. I met him first when I came to this place. He served Senator THURMOND as his chief of staff and counsel. He was very kind to me and very helpful to me as I took on my duties as chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Refugee Policy. I heard Senator KENNEDY speak a few moments ago about him. Senator KENNEDY was the ranking member and I was the chairman of the Immigration and Refugee Policy Subcommittee. Emory Sneeden was just as supportive and helpful to one as the other. He was a person I shall never forget.
