Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000095859

Their daughter. a talented violinist. has not been allowed to continue her education or pursue her musical career. In addition. Marks mother is suffering from Alzheimer disease which leaves her with only a few years more of active life. I urge Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to reconsider Mark Terlitskys request to allow his entire family to emigrate from the Soviet Union and to join the rest of their family in the United States whom they have not seen in nearly 11 years. And I urge my colleagues to continue to make vocal and repeated appeals to the Soviet leadership to allow the reunification of families who have been tragically separated as the Terlitsky family has been.
